Polaroid Mirror

You mightn’t want to shake this one like a Polaroid picture ;)

I love love LOVE seeing Polaroid pics on Flickr. Nowadays it features pics created using Photoshop or iPhone apps, but real Polaroid pics are just stunning. I never had one, but it’s sad that Polaroid cameras have become obsolete in the age of digital cameras.

You can keep the spirit of Polaroid pictures alive with this Polaroid Mirror from Black Ink in the US for US$20:

It’s the same size as a proper Polaroid picture, so it’s not very big at all. But it comes with a stand so you can prop it up on your favourite mantlepiece or display shelf.

I really am seriously considering getting one of these for a photographer friend of mine. Oh, and maybe one for me, too :p

Telegrams – remembering life before Twitter

Do you remember the days of telegrams? -(STOP)- I don’t, but I remember fake telegrams being read out at my sister’s wedding -(STOP)-

I love getting cards, letters and thank you notes in the mail. But I have to confess that I hardly send them myself because email/Twitter/Facecrack is so damn easy to use and it saves me from getting handcramps just from addressing the envelope (how the hell did I manage to write essays back in high school??).

But this is just plain cool. And I still don’t have to write anything!

telegram-stop

Telegram Stop is reliving “the good old days” with their postal telegram service. For US$4.95 a telegram is posted to your nominee and a copy is emailed to you. It’s the best of both the new and old worlds!

Cupcake bakery perfect for those on a diet

cccWould you believe me if I told you this cupcake has no calories, no fat, no guilt!

Certainly sounds like my kind of cupcake.

Doesn’t that cookies ‘n’ cream cupcake look super delish!

Shame you can’t eat it though :(

CreativeAbubot bakes faux cupcakes that are pretty much impossible to tell that aren’t the real deal. No food products at all are used in creating them.

These things are amazingly realistic.

Maybe chocolate or Rocky road are more your thing. I need some of the mini ones for my cupcake tree.

Available at CreativeAbubot starting $8US each.

Febusave – Encourage Women to save

fusFollowing a recent survey that revealed some scary statics in regards to women and their saving habits,  ANZ has launched a national campaign – FebuSave – to encourage women to develop regular saving habits.

The research showed 56 per cent of women do not save money on a regular basis, while more than half said they would last less than three months on their current savings if they lost their job.

The Women and Money Confidence research, commissioned by ANZ, also found:

  • 58 per cent of women have less than $5,000 in savings and 33 per cent have lessthan $1,000;
  • 56 per cent of Australian women do not save money on a regular basis, with one in five surveyed admitting they typically spend all their monthly pay packet or regularly dip into savings for living expenses;
  • 29 per cent of women are discussing financial matters with friends and family more often than they did 12 months ago.

ANZ Head of Customer Marketing, Carolyn Bendall said ‘FebuSave’ is aimed at raising awareness of these issues in the community by encouraging Australian women to set financial goals and take action towards achieving them.”

Everyone is welcome to participate, including non-ANZ customers.
