New Vegemite, deliciously different?

vegemiteUmm..FAIL!

So the new nameless Vegemite has gone one sale. Basically it is a mix of regular Vegemite and cream cheese.

Vegemite is an Australian cultural icon, a national food..why the hell must you Americans mess with it. That crappy Vegemite cheese failed dismally..when will you learn!

Apparently after over 300,000 entries in the How do you like your Vegemite Cenus they thought it seemed like a great idea.

The “deliciously different” Vegemite is yet to be named, you have a chance to offer up your suggestions just like they did way back in 1923 to name the original.

Have you tried the new Vegemite, what did you think?

I haven’t tried it but mum used to make cheese and vegemite sandwiches for me when I was little. I hated them.

    Love vegemite though.

I saw it on TV a few weeks ago & there was one man that said he thought the kids would like it better then plain vegemite
i have never known a kid not to like the old fashioned vegemite, i won’t be buying the new type

Dan and I have taken to calling it “Wussbag” as in it’s vegemite for wimps. We had a different name for it which made reference to cats, but thought that probably wasn’t right to say around the kids :)

They can just call it ‘crap’ from the get go as far as I’m concerned.

remember “vegemite singles” when they made vegemite-flavoured kraft singles? They were gross.

LOL @ wussbag *snigger* Not sure if I will buy it. I saw it yesterday at the supermarket but walked straight past it. I love the original vegemite just by itself …. have never been a fan of it with cheese.

I like cream cheese on top of vegiemite toast or vice versa ;) but that looks gross.
I hope someone else buys it just so I can try it without wasting my cash LOL

I haven’t tried it as yet, but I completely agree about messing with a cultural icon. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right?

I can’t believe this is the result of the census! Did anyone at Kraft actually try it???

Well Kraft is an American company now, and we all know how much American’s hate Vegemite and that they can’t handle the salty burn.
I was quite offended that they’ve even considered changing my favourite spread. I just had 2 vegemite sandwiches for breakfast this morning…..
