Look noice with Specsavers
I have to be honest with you, when Leigh and I were contacted about Specsavers Optometrists, I had NO idea who they were. I’ve since learned that they’re 3rd largest opticial chain in the world and they sell a pair of glasses every six seconds. Bloody hell, that’s a lot.
Last month, Leigh and I were given the opportunity to pop down to our local Specsavers store to try out their range of glasses. Sometimes going to try on glasses can be a bit… well, scary and confronting, but we both found the staff the staff to be friendly and well-informed on what frames (and colours!) best suited our faces and colouring. Best of all, they were patient while we umm-ed and ahhh-ed over which frames to choose. There are a bunch of brands on offer, including Karen Millen, Jasper Conran, Red or Dead, FCUK and Tommy Hillfiger.
Trying on glasses virtually on the Specsavers web site is handy, but be prepared for some hideously hilarious results (and no, we’re not game to show you!).
So looking at prices, frames average between the $200-400 mark, but Specsavers have a bunch of specials that you can check out online. At the time we went, there was a two-for-one special. By comparison, when I bought glasses three years ago, they cost me $700! Considering the cost of frames, it’s damn lucky that we can bulk bill our optometrist visit to find out our prescription…
Leigh and I each chose two pairs of frames, got anti-glare on the prescription lenses thrown in and it was priced at just under $400 retail. Leigh chose Read or Dead 26, $399, and I chose Read or Dead 44, $399. By complete fluke we both chose Roxy 05, $399 as our second pair of frames. It takes about two weeks for your glasses to be ready for collection from the store.

If you’re someone who wants modern-looking glasses and don’t want to spend a fortune (or you’re prone to losing them!), Specsavers could be the place for you.

I need a 2nd pair of specs. I left mine at home today – damnit.
How cool is it that you both chose the same pair?!
Free glasses? Nice score!
I must say if I’d know were were actually posting those pics I would have made a bit more effort :P
I had never noticed I had huge scary eyes before…seems I do.
posted while wearing new glasses :P
Do either of you have high index lenses? Because that’s the part that kills me price wise… :(

Fiona, I have astigmatism, does that mean I have high index lenses?
/clueless
not sure. I need them because my script would be coke bottle thick on the sides otherwise. means the lenses cost more than frames :(

Looks like a great deal and the glasses look great. Appears that the quality of service in Australia exceeds a certain recent news story from the UK version of Specsavers who fit lenses in glasses the wrong way around.
