Nude by Nature

nudebynatureI could probably count on one hand the amount of times I have worn makeup this year. I am not a makeup girl, and I guess a lot of it comes down to having trouble finding the right product and colour for my skin, I have tried quite a few.

I went into Priceline the other night to check out what was on offer and got chatting to one of the girls. She suggested I try some Nude by Nature.

Nude by Nature is a 100% mineral make up that consists of just 4 ingredients. It evens out your complexion and conceals imperfections and blemishes. The mineral formula is kind to even sensitive skin and will not block pores. It is also water resistant and provides added UVA/UVB protection.  It is Australian made and owned and not tested on animals.

I have seen their ads on TV, and their site is a little spammy  looking (I am not even going to link to it) which does them no favours. Given the dodgy marketing I would never have given it a second thought before being given a demo.

It is meant to be used as a 3 part system, a bronzer, the main foundation and a finishing veil. At $40, I wasn’t about to buy them all, it’s a bit more than the crappy $15 stuff I usually buy (perhaps there in lies my problem) So I just bought the Mineral cover to give it a try.

I am totally in love! It is awesome. So easy to apply, even for a n00b like me. Covers your spots and uneven skin tone all with the swirl of a brush. Great for summer when you might get a little sweaty. Even the manpet commented, and it usually takes him 2 weeks to notice I’ve had a haircut. I’m not into a bronzer, but I will definitely be going back for the finishing veil which.

Available from Priceline and other cosmetic retailers for around $38 (definitely steer clear of buying from their TV ads or website, way too expensive)

Thanks to Noble Pureau, That’s Noice has 5 SIGG water bottles worth $42 each to giveaway!

pureauHave you seen Noble’s Pureau purified water at your local supermarket? I have to confess that I didn’t really understand the difference between what I filter at home and store-bought purified water.

Is this the Wii Fit killer?

It’s no secret that Leigh and I are fans of the Wii, exercising with the Wii and alternatives to Wii Fit.

But there’s a new system on sale in the UK called Domyos Interactive System (or, DIS).

This video doesn’t do a great job of selling it – it doesn’t show off the gloves or bike/elliptical trainer you can use with it:

Having a look at the info on the official website, the DIS seems to operate on its own console system. There are seven cartiridges to choose from, and the descriptions on them make me want to give it a go!

There’s no indication about an Australian release, and you can only buy it in the UK in-store, but I’m going to assume that it would be an expensive investment (and I’m not going to remember how much I’ve spent on Wii exercise games!)

I’d still be very interested to check it out, though. Hopefully they’ll release it down under soon!

National Blood Donor Week

To coincide with the 80th anniversary of blood collection services in Australia, the Federal Government has designated 2009 the Year of the Blood Donor.

This week is National Blood Donor Week, an opportunity to showcase and recognise the Millions of special donors all over the world and hear from the people whose lives are transformed by their generosity.

RDC_DE1b_2009.logo_FA

Did you know?
• One in three Australians will need blood at some stage during their lifetime – but only one in 30 currently give it

• Australia needs 21,000 blood donations per week to ensure there are adequate supplies for those people who need it

• Giving blood takes only one hour of your time and it can help save the lives of three people

• A donation of 470 ml of blood is less than 10% of your total blood volume

• Your body keeps discarding and replenishing blood all the time whether you give blood or not – so you may as well put that ‘spare’ blood to good use and help save up to three lives as you do it

I went along to give blood for the first time today! It is something I have wanted to do for awhile, but I guess like so many things in our busy lives I just never seemed to get around to it. I myself received quite a few blood transfusion after the birth of my last child, so I know how important they can be.

If you need a reason to dontae, take the time to read Ivy’s special story and how just an hour of your time can change her life, and the lives of so many others.

Please visit the Australian Red Cross Blood service to see if you are suitable to be a Blood donor and find your nearest Donor Centre.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen freebie

sunscreenWe all know that there is no such thing as a safe tan, and that we shouldn’t be leaving the house without wearing sunscreen. Especially if you don’t want to end up looking like a wrinkly old prune in 20yrs!

It can be hard to find an everyday sunscreen that has the right protection..30+, but doesn’t leave you feeling like you have been dipped in a vat of oil.

After ten years of research and development, Neutrogena has launch it’s first range of sunscreen products. They contain new technology, providing the highest possible protection from the harsh Australian climate.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen is the only product range in Australia to contain patented Helioplex, which provides broad-spectrum protection from UVB rays, the primary cause of sunburn. The Ultra Sheer formula has a light-weight, clean feel that is quickly absorbed and won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. Great for everyday use, and doesn’t leave an oily slime all over your iPhone! Which I loved.

The range comes in both body and face options. For your body a lotion or mist available in 15 and 30+ for $17.99 and a 30+ for dry or normal option for your face $14.99

Dance Your Ass off with Zumba Fitness

Did you guys see that one episode of Dance Your Ass Off that aired in Australia? I was glued to the television, mesmerised by the tassels, the torn fishnets and the jiggling fleshy bits! Even more amazing was how much weight the contestants lost in their first week on the show!

zumbafitnessI’m not one to go along to a dance class and make a fool of myself in front of a room full of strangers. I’m so uncoordinated that it’s best that I don’t inflict it on other people…

A friend suggested Zumba Fitness as an alternative to stacking it in a dance class — and it looks pretty good!

Zumba Fitness is the brain child of Alberto Perez, a celebrity fitness trainer and choreographer. Zumba Fitness draws inspiration from traditional music such as cumbia, salsa, samba and meringue and has created Latin dance moves to create Zumba (Spanish slang for “to move fast and have fun”).

Here’s a video featuring the moves used in Zumba Fitness:

Zumba Fitness costs $149.85 from Guthy-Renker and includes 6 workout DVDs and handweights to use while busting out your new moves. At first I thought the price was steep, but thinking about how much I’ve spent buying a Nintendo Wii, Wii Fit, EA Active and even handweights for the Wii… I would have saved a bit of money with Zumba Fitness!

Isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing?
