Alcoholic Peanut Butter Cups?

NutLiquor is a peanut butter-flavoured vodka that is supposed to taste like the centre of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Not so keen on the idea of bacon-flavoured vodka, but this? Mmmmm.

Excuse me while I think about the sugar rush mixed with hard liquor.

YES PLEASE!

Neapolitan Ice Cream has a Makeover

I LOVE trying new things. So when I spotted the Streets Blue Ribbon 3in1 Fruit Basket Ice cream a few weeks ago..had to grab some, for research of course ;)

The Fruit Basket is vanilla, mango and passionfruit gelato. It is the only one I have tried, but it is super nom! The gelato is the best flavour, I wish it came in a tub by itself! It has fruit in it, so it must be healthy, right?

When I went to buy more (further research was required), I noticed it had some new flavour mates.

The other flavours are…

Chocolate 3in1 is milk, white and dark chocolate with dark chocolate flakes throughout.

And the caramel is vanilla, caramel and honeycomb with toffee crunchy bits.

I am sure I saw a coffee version as well, but there is no info online about these new flavours, so I may have imagined it.

Have you tried any yet?

Soda Stream is cool again

For months, I eyed off the cool new Soda Streams whenever I was in my local KMart. I always assumed it would be a waste of money.

But now that I’ve got one – I LOVE IT.

Here are some tips that I wish I knew before I wasted all those months years of NOT having a Soda Stream in my life.

  • The initial set up is most expensive part, $60 for the start up pack, $15 for 2 extra bottles, ~$6 for flavours
  • It’s not powered
  • It’s got a relatively small footprint, so it doesn’t take up much space on the benchtop
  • The bottles have an expiry date – a few years, on average, but replacement bottles are only $15 for a 2-pack
  • You can modify just how carbonated you want your drinks to be – less or more (though I wouldn’t go too far over, lest your bottle explodes all over the place)
  • You can also modify your flavouring. Find the (green) Cream Soda flavour too sweet? Then don’t pour in as much next time!
  • The bottles are easy-care – just rinse in warm (never hot) water, and never with any detergents.
  • The soda bulbs are about $15 to replace, though you get a discount when you return your used bulbs to stores like KMart. Some stores I’ve noticed you can get the bulbs from the Soda Stream section, some stores they are kept behind the customer service counter.
  • When you’re mixing the syrup into the carbonated water, be very gentle so the bubbles stay happy and bubbly
  • Store uncarbonated bottles in the fridge (filled with water, of course) and keep the syrup bottles in the fridge too – apparently keeping it all cold makes for maximum effect
  • You could use other flavourings too – we’ve tried fancy lemon cordial from our local Deli (though we only add flavour in the glass in case it causes damage to the bottle)
  • If you’re not into flavoured soft drinks, you can just carbonate plain water – as much or as little as you like. It makes a nice, crisp difference to still water
[Photos in this post have been taken with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo that we've been lucky enough to trial for a couple of weeks. We haven't been paid, but they did let us drink champers in a stretch limo. The photos haven't been photoshopped, save for resizing and adding the watermark.]

Fat Buddha at the QVB

Meet the newest restaurant at the Queen Victoria Building – Fat Buddha.

We’ve been to the QVB for dinner before; while Cellini’s is a cafe-style eatery, Fat Buddha is a fully-fledged restaurant — complete with the full napkin-placed-in-your-lap treatment. Very noice!

We’re surrounded by all sorts of diners – big family groups, smaller groups of friends, couples and even one woman who comes on her own after a hard day’s shopping.

We loved the introductory paragraph in the front of the menu:

Love, Eat & Celebrate — Celebration plays a big part in Chinese culture, no festivity can take place without food or a banquet.
At Fat Buddha, we strongly believe that food itself is a celebration. We select dishes that we love and are true to our
authentic Cantonese origins. Humble, respect and sustainability is the core of our approach to our sublime menu.

The menu at Fat Buddha is wide and varied. Prices are reasonable with many mains below the $30 mark. We struggled to choose what we wanted to eat (we should have checked the menu on the Fat Buddha web site first to save us some time!). Lucky for us, the staff were very attentive and patient while we asked questions, ummed, ahhed and finally made our choices.

We chose well!

Fat Buddha QVB - Vegetable Spring RollsVegetarian spring rolls (2pcs) $6.80

Fried rice with barbeque pork and shrimps $16.80

Fat Buddha QVB - DumplingsSteamed prawn dumplings (4pcs) $10.80

Fat Buddha QVB - Garlic King PrawnsGarlic king prawns $33.80

Deep fried duck with plum sauce $24.80 (our favourite!)

Roasted pork belly cubes with XO chilli sauce $24.80

We were so full from trying to eat everything that we were going to skip dessert. But Fat Buddha’s owner, Kim Yee Joy wouldn’t let us go without trying the dessert. Kim fetched us mango pancakes (Leigh couldn’t believe that I’d never eaten mango pancakes – zomg they’re like mango Weiss bars!) and Coconut Pudding, which has a touch of ginger flavour. Leigh preferred the pancakes and I preferred the pudding – though it was a pretty close contest, to be honest.

We really enjoyed having a girls night out at Fat Buddha. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and we loved the noice-yet-friendly atmosphere. It was a treat to meet Kim and chat with her about food as well.

Rekorderlig Swedish Cider

If you are on twitter, you may have already been sucked into the Rekorderlig cult, the curiosity and peer pressure has gotten the better of many. Tried it once to see what all the fuss is about, and instantly fallen in love, me included.

So what is this magical drink?

Rekorderlig is a pear Cider, imported from Sweden. Made from Pure Swedish spring water. It is then infused with a range of delicious crisp, sweet flavours.

Rekorderlig cider comes in 4 flavours. Apple, Pear, Strawberry-Lime and Wild Berries. There is also a Winter cider which is apple, vanilla and cinnamon. In Europe, they have an apple and blackcurrant flavour, I wonder if we will get that one here?

My favourite is the Strawberry-Lime. Best served super chilled, they’re an awesome drink through winter. I bet they will be even more perfect at the end of a hot summer day.

Available at all good liquor stores.

Have you tried Rekorderlig? What is your favourite flavour?

win ben & jerry's ice cream

Ben & Jerry’s is a huge fav at That’s Noice…this week we we’re lucky enough to try out 2 new flavours. Some may say winter isn’t the time for ice cream, but any time is a good time for noms I say!

The 2 new flavours….

New York Super Fudge Chunk – Over 25 years ago, Ben & Jerry decided they wanted to bring their ice cream to the streets of the city that never sleeps. To impress discerning New Yorkers, Ben & Jerry set out to create a flavour filled with more chunks than any other flavour before. Introducing New York Super Fudge Chunk,  a medley of  Chocolate Ice Cream with White & Dark Chocolatey Chunks, Pecans, Walnuts & Chocolatey Covered Almonds.

Sweet Cream & Cookies – Cookie lovers, rejoice! Ben & Jerry’s now has the ultimate flavour for you!  Sweet cream ice cream with whole and broken chocolate sandwich cookies. How sweet is that?

Although I am a little nutty,I am not a big fan of nuts, so the New York Super Fudge Chunk wasn’t quite my thing. Manpet however, polished it off in one sitting. I think he enjoyed it ;) The cookies & cream was awesome, just like a big tub of ice cream sammich.

These two new dairylicious flavours will be available in 458ml pint tubs (RRP $11.95) in select delis, around Sydney, Melbourne and  Brisbane from July. They’ll join the  great flavours already available: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chunky Monkey, Strawberry Cheesecake, Triple Caramel Chunk, Phish Food (my all time fav!) and Half Baked. Check the website for locations.

So…who wants to get their hands on these fab new flavours? All you have to do is like That’s Noice on Facebook and then leave a comment on the post below letting us know your fav Ben & Jerry’s flavour. Easy!

Congratulations to our winners Ryan and Lynda!
