Who died at your age?

Here’s something morbid, but really quite cool.

Enter your date of birth at Dead At Your Age and it will tell you how old you are in years and days, then tell you about someone who died at that age.

Here’s who died at my age of 30 and 322 days:

When Nat Turner, leader of a bloody Virginia slave rebellion that terrified Southern slaveholders, was the exact same age as you, he started a slave rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia. A preacher, slave, and self-styled prophet, Turner encouraged as many as 70 other blacks to revolt against their white oppressors. That was in 1831. He died by execution 82 days later, in 1831.

So, who died at your age?

Wear your doona to work

The cooler weather is nearly upon us for another year. Cold winter days curled up on the lounge under the doona. Till you need to get up to the loo or worse still..leave the house. Have you ever wished you could just wear your doona everywhere? Well..you can!

From Lazy Patch comes the Duvet suit.

lazypatch

Now you never need to leave your doona behind in bed, you can wear it everywhere, on the lounge, going to the shops. You could even wear it to work!

It comes in a range of colours. A full suit is $100AU or $50 for a jacket or pants

A percentage of profits from lazypatch will be going to the Simon Rhoden foundation to help ease the pain of current  cystic fibrosis sufferers.

RSPCA Millionpaws Fundraiser

The Million paws walk is coming up again on the 17th of May. A great RSPCA event that has helped raise money and awareness  for the RSPCA across Australia since 1994. It’s also a great day out for people and their dogs.

That’s great and all, but what about all the cat lovers of Australia?

The RSPCA has launched a new event this year just for cats!

Million Purrs is a virtual event for cats. Cat owners can now join the fun and help raise money without leaving their house.

In the past year, the RSPCA cared for more than 69,000 cats across Australia. The RSPCA relies on generous donations for 98% of their funding, which is why fund raising events like these are so very important.

So how does it work? You sign up and make yourself a Cat avatar and profile.  You can then interact with other users in virtual worlds with your Cat. Great for adults and kids.

To raise money, you need to find sponsors. Send your profile link to friends and family where they can simple make a donation to sponsor you and your cat or they can purchase virtual gifts like food, toys and kitty litter for your cat.

Million Purrs, sign up and start collecting sponsors. Or you can just sponsor my cat by visiting my profile or searching for crazymeezer. All processed go directly to the RSPCA and are tax deductable of course.

Custom ceramics from Fired Up Arts

fireduparts

I bought this custom ceramic serving plate from Fired Up Arts while I was at the Easter Show on Monday. I LOVE the colours and the fact that cupcakes AND stars are featured. WIN!

I got to talking to the lovely ladies behind the counter and discovered that they offer classes and OOSH as well as creating custom ceramic items at reasonable prices (my 25cm x 25 cm serving plate cost just $25!).

You can order custom items for birthdays, weddings, births, christenings and anything else you can think of.

I’m thinking of getting a round cupcake plate next, to match the square one ;)

How it works is, you sign up and make yourself a kitteh avatar (like mine over there) and profile.  You can then interact with other users in virtual worlds with your kitteh. Great for adults and kids.

To raise money, you need to find sponsors. Send your friends your profile link where they can simple make a donation to sponsor you and your cat or they can purchase virtual gifts like food, toys and kitty litter for your cat (cause we all know how expensive that stuff can be..even for virtual kittehs!)
